2026 let`s go!

As we step into 2026, I want to begin by welcoming everyone who has followed The Unlikely Lawyer over the past year, as well as those who may be discovering this journey for the first time. Your support, engagement, and encouragement have meant more than I can easily put into words. Whether you have been here from the outset or are joining now, you are very welcome.

The past year has been one of steady progress, reflection, and learning. It has reinforced for me that the legal journey is rarely linear and almost never predictable. That, in many ways, is what makes it worthwhile. As I look ahead to 2026, I do so with renewed motivation and a clear sense of purpose about what I hope to explore, document, and share.

What’s Ahead in 2026

This year, I plan to introduce a new blog series centred on spending time with people working across different areas of law and public service. The idea is simple but, I hope, meaningful: to spend a day with professionals whose work may go unseen, misunderstood, or underappreciated, and to reflect honestly on what they do and why it matters.

The roles I hope to explore include, among others:

  • A Barrister

  • A Judge

  • A Legal Professional working behind the scenes

  • A Criminal Lawyer

Beyond the legal profession, I also intend to reach out to the emergency and public services that play a vital role in keeping society functioning day to day, including:

  • The NHS

  • The Police

  • The Financial conduct authority (FCA)

  • Westminster

Each of these “spend the day with” pieces will focus deliberately on positivity and recognition. In an era where public discourse can often default to criticism or cynicism, this series is intended to pause, observe, and acknowledge the commitment, professionalism, and human effort that goes into these roles. At its heart, the aim is simple: recognising the people who, in very real and practical ways, help to keep Britain great.

As always, these features will sit alongside regular updates on my own progress through my legal career. I will continue to write candidly about study, professional development, challenges, and decision points as they arise. With my Master of laws due to conclude next year, this year represents a significant stage in the journey, and I intend to document it with the same honesty that has defined this blog so far.

My hope is that The Unlikely Lawyer continues to serve two purposes: first, as a personal record of growth and learning; and second, as a resource and point of reassurance for others who may be navigating unconventional routes into law or public service.

Looking Forward

2026 feels like a year of connection, perspective, and momentum. If the past has taught me anything, it is that progress is built not only through individual effort, but through understanding the systems and people around us.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I am looking forward to what lies ahead and to sharing it with you.
