Weeks 24 - 27. 1st Month on the Job.
Month in Review: My First Four Weeks on the Job
For the first full month in my new role, I’ve decided to do something a little different. Rather than separate weekly blogs, I’ll be combining Weeks 24 to 27 into a four-part mini-series that reflects on my first month in the workplace.
From adjusting to the daily commute to navigating the balance between independent learning and collaborative work, this month has been full of insight, reflection, and a few lessons learned along the way. Each weekly entry will explore a different aspect of this new chapter, and while the posts are still in progress, here’s a glimpse of what’s to come:
Week 1: The Great British Commute
First impressions, train delays, takeaway coffees, and navigating four-hour round trips with a sense of humour.Week 2: Exempt Accommodation
A critical dive into one of the most complex and debated areas of supported housing policy.Week 3: Independent Learning & Teamwork
Adjusting from academic isolation to workplace collaboration, what it means to be part of something bigger.Week 4: On My Way
Reflecting on early wins, ongoing goals, and how this role fits into the wider 12-month challenge. And in Week 4, I’ll be sharing a personal milestone that marks a big step forward in my journey (hint: wheels are involved), with more to follow in Week 28 as I finally hit the road again after years away from driving.
Week 26 also marks the halfway point of my 12 month challenge, a moment to pause, reflect, and take stock. From uncertain beginnings to settling into meaningful work, it’s been a transformative few months. I’ll be sharing more about what reaching the halfway milestone means to me and why I’m genuinely excited for what the second half has in store. Life is good,
and it’s only getting better.
Lets go!
