Independent Learning & Teamwork
And just like that , we're halfway.
Week 26 marks the midpoint of my 12-month challenge, and it feels both surreal and satisfying to pause and take stock. The first half has been packed: boxes ticked, assignments submitted, results returned with marks I’m proud of. The business is growing steadily, and more importantly, so is my confidence. This challenge was never just about productivity, it was about momentum, finding purpose, and pushing myself gently but consistently towards bettering all aspects of my life.
One of the most transformative shifts so far has come from stepping away from the solitude of my home office and into the world of a new workplace. After years of studying, nose buried in books, it’s been refreshing, and frankly a bit of a culture shock, to be part of something bigger again. Meeting people. Collaborating. Thinking out loud with others. It's reminded me how much value lies in connection.
I’ve been completely blown away by the team I’ve joined. It’s a rich mix, of disciplines, backgrounds, ages, sizes, cultures, accents, and beliefs, yet somehow, it all works beautifully. There’s something incredibly humbling about being surrounded by such a wide spectrum of personalities and perspectives, and yet feeling completely welcomed by every single one of them. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and there’s a shared energy that makes the days enjoyable.
For the most part, I work quietly in the corner of my small office, fully immersed in the legal work I’ve been assigned. It’s a fascinating area of law, as touched on in Week 25, and although I’m still getting up to speed, progress feels steady. I meet with my boss daily to brainstorm and dig deeper into what he and the directors want from me. There’s no single way to draft the documents I’m preparing, the real task lies in understanding the company’s preferred approach to legal matters. We're refining this together, and while I hope I'm hitting the mark, ultimately that’s not for me to decide. What I can say for certain is this: while I have a contract in place, I will show up, do the job to the very best of my ability, and always try to keep a smile on my face in the process
It’s early days, but already I feel proud to be part of a team that functions this well, respectful, curious, kind, and smart. All I can hope is that I pull my weight, contribute something of value, and continue to grow into a role that is both legally sound and personally rewarding.
The next half of this challenge awaits, and if it’s anything like the first, I am excited.
